Camera calibration
A certification of your camera's internal clock, done at Lynx.
What it is
Every FinishLynx camera times races with an internal clock. That clock drifts slightly as it ages. Certification replaces it with a newly certified one, verifies its accuracy, and writes the certification date into the camera so FinishLynx knows it is current.
Why you'd want it
- You get a fresh internal clock. Certification fits a newly certified crystal oscillator, so the drift it has built up with age is gone.
- World Athletics (TR19.13(165)) and most governing bodies expect photo-finish cameras to be certified at least every four years.
- When a camera's date is past four years, or unknown, FinishLynx shows a Timer tab in Camera Settings as a reminder. The camera keeps timing.
- The camera is fully inspected and tested while it's in, so it comes back ready for the season.
How to get it
- Request a quote with the calibration form on finishlynx.com.
- Lynx replies with the quote and the RMA details.
- Ship the camera once you have the RMA confirmation. It comes back certified, with the date set.
Already sending the camera in for repair? Ask for certification on the same RMA. In Europe, start with Matsport, which handles Lynx service there.
