Add EVF to a camera

EVF (Electronic ViewFinder) shows the camera's alignment view at the camera: on your phone with the Lynx ViewFinder app (wireless EVF), or on a display plugged into the camera's HDMI port (HDMI EVF). It's standard on the Vision PRO X and available as the 5LEVF upgrade for Vision and Vision PRO cameras.

How to fix it

Check which EVF your camera can take

  • Vision PRO X: wireless EVF included as standard
  • Vision PRO: wireless EVF if the serial number ends in 410 or higher; earlier ones take the HDMI EVF only
  • Vision: wireless EVF if the serial number ends in 420 or higher; earlier ones take the HDMI EVF only
    • The serial number is on the label on the bottom of the camera: look at its last three digits
  • A camera that already has the wireless EVF has "EVF" on that label and a small USB dongle connected to the back
  • Cameras with the wireless EVF also work with the HDMI EVF

Get the upgrade

  1. Ask Lynx sales for a quote on the 5LEVF upgrade through Get a Quote on finishlynx.com

Use the EVF

  1. In FinishLynx, check the EVF box on the Hardware Control window and click the 1D or 2D alignment button
  2. Wireless EVF: on your phone, join the camera's Wi-Fi (its name starts with 5L) and open the Lynx ViewFinder app
    • The camera's Wi-Fi is only on while the EVF box is checked. Confirm the connection on your phone even though it has no internet
  3. HDMI EVF: connect a display to the camera's HDMI port, and use the + and − zoom buttons to zoom the alignment view
    • At the camera, the A button on the back steps through the views: 2D Zoom 100%, 200%, 400%, then 1D

The manual's Camera Alignment Tools page and the EVF WiFi & Lynx ViewFinder App QSG cover both.
