Some panels dark or picture out of order

The panels are chained: power and signal go from Panel 1 to Panel 2, Panel 2 to Panel 3, and so on. A dark panel usually has a loose jumper on it or on the panel before it. A scrambled picture usually means the panels are wired in a different order from the one they were programmed for at Lynx.

How to fix it

Check the chain

  1. From the back, confirm the panels are in ascending order.
    • 1-sided or 360 single: 1 to 4.
    • 2-sided: 1 to 4 and 5 to 8. 3-sided: 1 to 4, 5 to 8 and 9 to 12.
    • 360 double: the top tier is 5 to 8, starting with panel 5 over panel 4.
  2. Confirm every pair of neighbors (1 to 2, 2 to 3, and so on) has both a Power Jumper Cable and a Short Signal Jumper Cable.
    • On a 2- or 3-sided display the next side is fed from panel 4 to 5 and from panel 8 to 9.
  3. On a 360, keep jumpers out of the ports with a blue sticker: those are the Power Input and Signal Input on Panel 1.
    • Yellow and red stickers mark the open signal and power ports.
    • On a 360 double, the 4 to 5 power jumper uses the red-sticker port and the 4 to 5 signal jumper uses the yellow-sticker port.
  4. Find the first dark panel and reseat the power and signal jumpers on it and on the panel before it. Power connectors need to be inserted, twisted and clicked.

If the picture is scrambled or out of order

  1. Check that the connection sequence follows the order and direction shown in the picture in the electrical setup guide for your display: 1-Sided, 2-Sided, 3-Sided, 360 single, 360 double.
  2. Re-program the panels only if they were not pre-programmed at Lynx or are set up in a different order. The steps are in the re-programming section of the same guide.
    • Connect the USB cable from the Sending Box USB Out port to your computer.
    • Install LED Vision (Infield) or NovaLCT (360) from the Lynx USB drive and load the configuration files from the same drive.
  3. In LED Vision, if the sample image still does not show in sequence order, redo the Browse step to reload the configuration file.
  4. If a panel went dark after a knock, drop or crack, see Damage.

If many panels show vertical coloured lines or corrupted pixels

  1. Note when it started: on the very first power-up, or after something was sent to the panels with LED Vision.
  2. Check whether any panels are unaffected. If some panels are fine, the fix is usually simpler.
  3. Lynx support can usually fix this in a remote session. Have a Windows computer with TeamViewer installed, connected to the LED Sending Unit with the USB cable.
    • If that computer also runs FinishLynx with an IdentiLynx camera pointed at the board, support can watch the display while they work.
