My IdentiLynx stopped loading after a Windows update. What changed?

Usually the computer: a conflicting network adapter (Wi-Fi on the same subnet), the firewall permission cleared, or the static IP lost. Check Camera Network in File | Options | General first.

A camera that stopped loading right after a Windows update is usually a computer change. Check these in order:

  1. In FinishLynx, go to File | Options | General and open the Camera Network drop-down. If two addresses share the same first three numbers (the same subnet), that is likely the conflict: close FinishLynx, disable the wireless adapter, and reopen FinishLynx.
  2. Check the firewall permission again; an update can clear it. In Windows Security | Firewall & network protection | Allow an app through firewall, make sure Lynx is checked for both Private and Public.
  3. Check the Ethernet adapter still has its static address (192.168.0.5) and that Camera Network is set to it, with Hardware Type on Detect. Restart FinishLynx.
  4. In Help | Find Cameras, make sure Whitelist is unchecked unless you use one on purpose.
  5. Check Help | About: the IdentiLynx SR-2 and HRS need FinishLynx 12.10 or later. Boot the IdentiLynx last, after the EtherLynx cameras appear in Hardware Control.

If it still won't show up, run the discovery utility for your model (IP-Toolbox for the SR, SR-2 and HRS) from the Drivers & Utilities section with the camera connected. Listed: it's on the network, and Lynx support can check its settings with you. Not listed, even on its own injector straight to the computer: the camera itself needs looking at.
