What do I need to use an RFID chip system with FinishLynx?
The LapTime plug-in, and a reader that interfaces with FinishLynx. Not every RFID system does, so confirm compatibility before you buy; MYLAPS is Lynx's partner system.
There are many RFID systems on the market and not all of them interface with FinishLynx, so confirm compatibility before you buy. Every chip system integration needs the LapTime plug-in for FinishLynx; contact sales for a quote.
Some systems connect over serial and others over Ethernet. Once the plug-in is installed, open the LapTime options and set the communication settings for your reader, following the manufacturer's technical manual. Lynx's own partner system is MYLAPS.
Setup notes for MYLAPS, IPICO, Trident and Race Result decoders, a cross-country workflow and fixes for common chip problems are in Troubleshoot under LapTime / Chip timing.

- My chip reads reach FinishLynx but nothing is marked on the image or in the results. Why? — Usually a LapTime setting: the event needs a start (reads before it are ignored by the Start Mask), the right number of laps, and for MYLAPS the hidden settings FillInTime and TotalLaps.
- How do I time cross country with cameras and no chips? — Like a track meet, except finishers are identified by bib instead of lane: set Identify by to ID on the line-scan camera and type each bib as you evaluate. A front-facing IdentiLynx makes bibs much easier to read.
- Can I use my EtherLynx camera as a LapTime device for capturing splits? — Yes. With the LapTime plug-in you set the laps per race and evaluate the image on each lap to create split times for every athlete.
