My chip reads reach FinishLynx but nothing is marked on the image or in the results. Why?

Usually a LapTime setting: the event needs a start (reads before it are ignored by the Start Mask), the right number of laps, and for MYLAPS the hidden settings FillInTime and TotalLaps.

If the status bar shows LapTime receiving reads, the connection is working and a LapTime setting is holding the reads back. Check these in order:

  1. Give the event a start. LapTime ignores every read that arrives before the start, and for the Start Mask time after it (3.0 seconds by default). For a test, use Event | Manual Start and the Space bar before passing a chip over the mat.
  2. Set the laps before reads arrive. The event's Laps must be set (1 for a finish-only decoder) before any chip data arrives for it.
  3. MYLAPS: set the hidden LapTime settings. Hold Ctrl+Shift and click File | Options…, then under LapTime set FillInTime = 2 and TotalLaps = the total number of splits (1 for a single finish decoder). For BibTags, also set IdMaxSize = 5, IdStripZeros = 1 and IntSyncMask = 2 when the camera is not synced to GPS. The chip time card and the MYLAPS BibTags card explain each one.
  4. Sync the decoder. With the camera not synced to GPS, set Sync. Source to Internal in LapTime | Options… and trigger a gunshot on the decoder while FinishLynx is connected.

Also check that a color is selected for Splits under Show Lines, that the Results fields Cumulative Split Time, Last Split Time and Laps are on, and that the Results Key in LapTime options is the field your chips map to (ID for bib numbers).
