Can two FinishLynx computers share one camera?
No. A camera loads into one FinishLynx at a time. Use a white list to choose which computer loads each camera, and set the evaluate computer's Hardware Type to None.
A camera can't be shared between two FinishLynx computers: it loads into one FinishLynx at a time, and a second FinishLynx that is looking for cameras keeps trying to pull it away. What you can do is choose which computer loads each camera.
- On each FinishLynx computer, go to Help | Find Cameras and check Use White List. Every camera on the network is listed.
- Select the cameras this computer should load and click Add. A "W" appears next to each one; cameras without it are ignored by this computer, so the other can load them.
An EtherLynx camera needs the "updatefw" upgrade code before it can use the white list, and EtherLynx 2000 cameras (5L100 and 5L200) can't use it. A computer that only evaluates races doesn't need to load any cameras: set its Hardware Type to None. Drive the scoreboards from one computer only.
The same applies to an IdentiLynx: it connects to one FinishLynx at a time. The White List Management page of the manual has a video and the primary-and-backup setup.
