How do you set up networking for a Capture and a Read computer?
Static IPs in the same scheme (192.168.0.5 and 192.168.0.15), the same Workgroup, a shared meet folder with read and write rights, and Hardware Type set to None on the Read computer.
- Give each computer a unique static IP in the same scheme (192.168.0.xxx). We suggest 192.168.0.5 for the Capture computer and 192.168.0.15 for the Read (evaluate) computer.
- Put both computers in the same Workgroup and keep them off a Domain, to keep it simple.
- Use a common shared directory with full read and write rights for all users (images are saved locally on the Capture computer), and share C:\Lynx\Temp on the Capture computer so the Read computer can see the race images.
- On the Read computer, set File | Options | General | Hardware Type to None and restart FinishLynx, so only one copy of FinishLynx looks for the cameras.
The Windows 11 and Windows 10 networking quick-start guides walk through it step by step, and Troubleshoot covers the computers not seeing each other under Multi-computer networking.
