NetExchange came with no serial number. How do seats and licenses work?
NetExchange has no software serial: its license lives in the green USB key. Each FieldLynx device connected at once uses one seat, and more seats come as a code entered in Help | License for that key.
NetExchange has no software serial number, so a package with "no serial number" is normal. Its license lives in the USB hardware key (the green dongle) that came with it. NetExchange won't run without the key, and the number of FieldLynx, LynxPad and other clients it allows comes from the license on that key.
- Plug the USB key into the computer that runs NetExchange and leave it there for the whole meet.
- Open NetExchange. The products your license enables are highlighted in green, with the number of clients allowed for each, and the status bar should say the license never expires.
Each FieldLynx device connected at the same time uses one seat, so you need as many FieldLynx seats as field events running at once. Seats belong to one key, and a key can only be at one meet at a time.
To add seats, go to Help | License with the key plugged in, enter the code Lynx sent for that key, click OK and reopen NetExchange. New seats arrive as a new code by email; the key never has to go back to Lynx. A "lease expiration" message, or a key from an older NetExchange version, needs a license code from Lynx support for that key's ID.
