Can I run FinishLynx without a camera, to practice or to drive a display?
Yes. Set File | Options | General | Hardware Type to None and restart. Events, saved images and scoreboard output all work; set it back to Ethernet before timing with the camera.
FinishLynx runs without a camera when it isn't looking for one. This is how an evaluate computer works, and it is handy for practice and for testing scoreboards.
- Open FinishLynx and go to File | Options, General tab.
- Set Hardware Type to None.
- Click OK and restart FinishLynx.
Without a camera you can open, evaluate and save events and images captured elsewhere, test scoreboard output, and show a running time from a manual start (set the start sensor to None, then Event | Manual Start and the Space bar at the gun; manual starts are only accurate to a tenth of a second). Set Hardware Type back to Ethernet before you time with the camera again.

- Can I send data to my scoreboard over the Ethernet network? — Yes, with every display. The built-in Network COM Port feature adds Network (connect), (listen) and (UDP) to the serial port lists; a SeriaLynx converts Ethernet to serial for boards with a serial input.
