Race clock dead or won't charge
Race clocks and small LED boards come from different makers, and the charging and power steps depend on the model. Find the make and model on the board's label and how it's powered (mains, its own battery, or the 12 V port on the camera or Connection Box), then use the section that matches.
How to fix it
MicroTab (Microgate) won't charge or boot
- Charge it: with the board turned off, connect external power to the SUPPLY connector, then hold the green START MODIFY button for at least 2 seconds.
- The LOW BATTERY light flashes green while it charges and turns steady green when charging is complete. A full charge can take up to 10 hours.
- If it still won't boot, run it from the external power supply with the battery removed. If it boots, the fuse, logic board and power supply are working, so look at the battery next.
- Do a hard reset: remove all the batteries, reseat them, then charge fully. This has brought back a MicroTab that wouldn't boot.
- Once it boots, confirm it shows Base Program. See MicroTab LED Display.
- A replacement battery (Microgate part MG-ACC163, the internal battery module) comes through Lynx: use the button below.
- Spares can be slow to arrive because lithium batteries this size are hard to ship on their own, so ask about availability before the season.
The charging steps are on page 9 of the MicroTab LED User Manual.
Electro-Numerics Race Clock won't charge or stays dead
- Check whether it was running from mains power or its battery. If your clock has a built-in battery, charge it with the display off: connect power, then hold the Green button for a few seconds until the LED flashes green quickly.
- When it works again, put the clock in "rd" mode so it shows FinishLynx data. See Raceclock by Electro-Numerics.
- If it stays dead, contact Electro-Numerics, the clock's maker, through raceclock.com.
- Older battery models (for example 1007-6XL and 1207-6XL) have a battery replacement procedure from the maker; newer clocks may not have a battery you can replace, so tell them the model and when it was bought.
Clock powered from the camera or Connection Box
- Test the 12 V port before sending anything in: measure across the red and black ports with a voltmeter (it should read 12 V), or plug in another 12 V accessory, such as a RadioLynx receiver, and see whether it powers up.
- If the port has no power, the camera or Connection Box needs checking by Lynx: use the button below. If it has power, look at the clock and its cable.
For cracked or broken boards, see Damage.
