Time missing or clock won't stop
The running time starts on the board when FinishLynx gets the start signal, and stops when a photo eye or the operator stops it. Results show only after it stops. When the time is missing, won't stop or never gives way to results, check the start, the stop method and the Running Time settings.
How to fix it
If the clock doesn't run at the start
- Open an event. The running time only shows while an event is open.
- Check that the on-screen running time in FinishLynx starts at the gun. If it doesn't, FinishLynx isn't getting the start: see RadioLynx not working or Wired start not working.
- In Scoreboard | Options, check Running Time is set to Normal for this scoreboard.
- On a MicroTab, confirm it shows Base Program after power-on.
- FinishLynx drives the MicroTab over serial or Ethernet. The MicroTab's RADIO connector is for Microgate's own radio system, not for FinishLynx.
If the board doesn't show 0:00 when you open an event
- In Scoreboard | Options, select the scoreboard and check Running Time is set to Normal.
- Open the Options menu next to Running Time and uncheck Send results if armed. Unchecked, a running-time board shows 0:00 as soon as the event is armed, until the start.
- Check it only for a results board, such as a video board or ResulTV: checked, the board shows the start list once the event is open, before the start and the results. See the Scoreboard page of the manual.
If the clock won't stop at the finish
- To stop on the next photo-eye break, use Scoreboard | Finish (Alt+F) before the finish. To stop it straight away, use Scoreboard | Stop (Alt+S).
- If Alt+F worked on another computer and not on this one, open Camera Settings, click the Inputs tab and set Photo eye to Internal (if that is how the old computer stopped the clock), then click OK.
- Alt+F only stops the clock on a photo-eye break, so it needs a photo eye set up. Camera settings don't carry over to a new computer.
- To have the time stop by itself when results arrive, open the Options menu next to Running Time and check Force Stop (FinishLynx 13.10 or later).
- In the same Options menu, make sure Ignore Finish and Ignore Stop aren't checked.
- Check the scoreboard's Serial Port matches where its cable goes. A board cabled to the 9-pin SERIAL port on the back of the camera uses
<Camera Name> (Body), not(C-Box). See Scoreboard stopped working.
If results show but the time is cut off
- On a moving-message sign, increase Paging Time so the sign can scroll every field before the next result arrives.
- The time is the last field the script sends (after place, lane, name and affiliation), so it is the one cut off when Paging Time is too short. Raising it fixed this on a Gill MS167 sign.
- If it still doesn't fit, a script that sends fewer fields (for example Place, Name and Time) needs Lynx: use the button below.
If tenths don't show while a MicroTab runs
- Choose the uTabLED_Tenth.lss script, then raise the baud rate to the same value on the MicroTab and in FinishLynx.
- The script comes with FinishLynx 10.12 and later. Update FinishLynx if it isn't in your Script list.
If you want only running time on the board
- Set Results to Off for that scoreboard.
- On a Daktronics All Sport 5000, check the console code and serial port against LED scoreboard (All Sport 5000). With a USB-to-serial adapter on the FinishLynx computer, the code is 8602.
